Last month we announced that Captain Absolutely, created by Adventures in Odyssey's own Wooton Bassett, was soon going to appear in a new comic book available in stores. The book compiles the comic strips previously released in Clubhouse Magazine over the years. And today we can reveal the comic book's front cover art. You can click on the image to see it in high resolution. This upcoming Captain Absolutely book releases on April 1st, 2017, and will include a total of 112 pages featuring the adventures of Wooton's popular superhero. You can listen to Captain Absolutely's origin story in the episode The Truth Be Told, available on The Truth Chronicles. In January of this year the first novel featuring the popular audio drama character Father Gilbert was released. The Body Under the Bridge, written by Paul McCusker, begins where the nine-part Focus on the Family Radio Theatre series left off, bringing fans more original stories featuring the the former Scotland Yard detective. Now the sequel is on its way. Its working title, All Desires Known, has been changed to Death in the Shadows, and the front cover has just been revealed. As usual, Adventures in Odyssey listeners should be aware that the Father Gilbert Mysteries are created for an older, more mature audience. Check out the book's summary: When Father Gilbert traded in his detective’s badge for an Anglican priest’s collar, he never expected he would be pulled into a different kind of mystery – the mystery of the spiritual world. Even attending a conference in a seaside town provides no escape as he has yet another supernatural encounter, this time with a murdered girl who worked at a local massage parlour. Details of the murder lead Father Gilbert to approach the police with clues in common with other cases, bringing him into contact with a detective from his days with Scotland Yard. Meanwhile, a local monastery has been vandalized, with grotesque images and profane graffiti defacing the altar and walls. The head of the monastery, from whom Father Gilbert received spiritual direction a couple of years before, is distressed by the attack, accusing the local sex trade industry of retaliating against his outspoken stand against it. Then, one of the brothers at the monastery is found dead in the local red light district. All evidence points to his having been a regular at a massage parlour – the same one where the murdered girl had worked. Intertwined within this web is a young woman who sees the same apparitions that Father Gilbert thought only he could see, plus an obstinate runaway, a distraught father, and a deep corruption pervading the town. And, whether he likes it or not, Father Gilbert is at the centre of it all. Death in the Shadows releases in the United States in November 2016. There will be a third installment in the Father Gilbert book series, and currently its working title is Malevolence.

Wooton Bassett's comic book hero Captain Absolutely first appeared on Adventures in Odyssey on The Truth Chronicles in 2008, and you might remember he most recently fought off the evil Lord Gargantuan Foulspleen on Album 56. And in September 2012 he made his comic strip debut in Clubhouse Magazine, which immediately became a regular feature. If you thought that was cool, then you'll be excited to know that those comics are now being collected together into a new Captain Absolutely book, where you can read all the way through from his origin story to his present day adventures. The comic book will release in April 2017. You can read the summary below: After a computer explosion at the library, Josiah King takes cover in a room full of Bibles. He reads God’s Word for the first time that night, and (with the help of mysterious radioactive fumes) is transformed into a superhero—Captain Absolutely. He embarks on a battle for truth and justice, pitted against his ultimate nemesis, the notorious Dr. Relative. It's an exciting day for Adventures in Odyssey fans.
