Young Whit
John Avery Whittaker is an experienced, grandfatherly man, full of discernment and biblical wisdom. But he wasn't always that way. Like all of us, he was once just a kid. And he had plenty of exciting adventures back in the day. We hear young Whit in a number of Adventures in Odyssey episodes, such as Blackbeard's Treasure (Album 22) and The Journal of John Avery Whittaker (AIO Club Season 3). And a couple other familiar characters show up in Whit's past as well, such as Jack Allen and Wilson Knox.
And now we can learn more about Whit's past in the form of the Young Whit book series. Written by Phil Lollar and Dave Arnold, these books start off with young "Johnny" Whittaker at the age of 9. In the first book, The Traitor's Treasure, young Whit is plunged into a mystery involving a school bully, family secrets, and even Confederate gold.

In book 2, The Shroud of Secrecy, the backstory of young John Avery Whittaker continues with more intriguing mysteries and exciting action.
