Autumn has just begun and believe it or not Thanksgiving is slowly coming closer, even if it is still some time away. But since this new poll question will run from now until December, we at the AIO Update thought it would be fine to take the opportunity to prepare for the holiday. We're asking Adventures in Odyssey fans to tell us what the best Thanksgiving episode is. And there are plenty of options to choose from. The choices are Thank You, God (when Whit tells his friends how he became a Christian), Thanksgiving at Home (when the Barclay kids try to make Turkey dinner), A Thanksgiving Carol (when Kids' Radio adapts A Christmas Carol), B-TV: Thanks (when Bernard and the gang tell stories about thankfulness), Stepping Stones (a retelling of the Puritans' journey to America, which you can find in The Truth Chronicles), and last but not least A Thankstaking Story (an adaptation of The Grinch Who Stole Christmas). You can vote for your favorite Thanksgiving episode here.
We at the AIO Update have just concluded our 15th poll and the results have been finalized. In the poll question we asked Adventures in Odyssey fans if they think the Mysteries in Odyssey book series should finally be re-released and made available in stores once again. An overwhelming majority said yes, with 83.78% of the votes cast in support. The first book in the series is called The Case of the Mysterious Message and kicks off when Cal Jordan uncovers a strange love letter in an old mail bag. He takes Sarah Prachett, Connie and Eugene with him on the adventure as well as they attempt to solve the mystery. In the second book, The Mystery of Hooded Horseman, Sarah, Jared and Whit get trapped in the Imagination Station and are forced to follow a trail of clues in order to escape. The little-known third book in the series, The Secret of the Monster in the Woods, features Lucy and Dylan and some frightening rumors about what's behind the disasters that have been plaguing the area. The reason this last book is so unknown to most people is because it was never released. It was going to be published in January 2003 but never was, and then the whole series soon went out of print. Hopefully all three of these books will appear in a new omni-book someday for Adventures in Odyssey fans to enjoy. Thank you to everyone who participated in our latest poll. A new poll question will be released on the site soon. You can also make your own poll suggestions. Have you ever heard of The Case of the Mysterious Message, written by Marshal Younger, in which Cal Jordan, Sarah Prachett, Connie and Eugene attempt to discover the secret behind a strange letter? What about The Mystery of the Hooded Horseman, written by John Fornof, where Whit, Sarah Prachett and Jared DeWhite get trapped in the Imagination Station? These books were both released over ten years ago, in May 2002, but haven't seen much life since. Recently the original Odyssey novels, the Kidsboro series and the Passages series have all been re-released as omni-books. The Mysteries in Odyssey series, however, has gone out of print and is currently not available for purchase from Focus on the Family. That's why we've created this new AIO Update poll question for Adventures in Odyssey fans. Do you think the Mysteries in Odyssey book series should finally be re-released? Let us know your opinion when you vote here. We've closed our 14th poll question and tallied the final results. In the poll we asked Adventures in Odyssey fans what their favorite Barclay family vacation episode was. There were five options and the majority of participants agreed that Aloha, Oy! is their favorite one. The three-part episode Aloha, Oy! was first aired in 1994 and can be found on Album 19: Passport to Adventure. It is a classic show and features not only the Barclay family on vacation in Hawaii, but also Lawrence Hodges and the Rathbones who tag along on the trip. In second place in the poll came The Barclay Family Ski Vacation with 27.27% of the votes. This episode has the Barclays going to a cold place instead of a hot one and you'll find it included on Album 7: On Thin Ice. What's interesting to note is that both of these top-rated episodes feature in them the possibility that someone might have a crush on Donna Barclay. In The Barclay Family Ski Vacation, Donna hopes that her ski instructor Robb likes her, and in Aloha, Oy!, the obnoxious bully Rodney Rathbone has a crush on her. Of course, Donna has had other love interests. In Album 13's Modesty is the Best Policy she goes out with Jack Davis. And then in the Album 23 episode Preacher's Kid she almost goes out with Eric Myers. How did Donna's future turn out? Since her last appearance was on Album 31 in the episode It's a Pokenberry Christmas, we have yet to find out. Maybe the Barclay family will show up again in the future. Thanks so much to everyone who voted in our poll. We will be posting a new poll question soon. Meanwhile, you can make your own poll suggestions. One of Adventures in Odyssey's most popular families, the Barclays, has been going on vacations since their first episode. After that first appearance in the episode Family Vacation they have gone on a number of different vacations. Sometimes they went off to visit exotic locations and other times they had adventures in more ordinary places. That's why we've created this latest AIO Update poll question. Out of all the family vacations the four Barclays have gone on together, which episode is your favorite? You can choose between Family Vacation, Our Best Vacation Ever, The Barclay Family Ski Vacation, Aloha, Oy!, and Pokenberry Falls, R.F.D. Vote for your favorite episode here. Our 13th Odyssey poll question has now ended and the fans have spoken. We asked you what was the primary way in which you listened to AIO. Out of the variety of options available the most popular choice was physical CDs, with 44.44% of the vote. In second place was listening online at Whitsend.org. It seems the generation of AIO fans who grew up with CDs is still going strong. Most people who purchase their episodes prefer CDs over digital downloads. CDs, however, appear to be on their way out. For example, the special collection Family Portraits is not available on CD, only as a digital download, and neither are the exclusive episodes released only to Odyssey Adventure Club members. New AIO cassettes are no longer produced and it is likely that Odyssey CDs will also cease production eventually. As for those fans who like to listen to the latest episodes as they air each week, most of them prefer going to the official site for streaming. As the Odyssey Adventure Club is still quite new, only a minority of fans listen to the show through this service. This number will probably grow as the club becomes more established and changes over time. Thank you to all who voted in our latest Adventures in Odyssey poll. We will be posting a new poll question shortly. You can make suggestions for future polls here. Since the very early days of hearing Adventures in Odyssey on the radio or on cassette tapes, opportunities for listening to the show have been expanding. Now fans can hear AIO using all different types of platforms. That's why the AIO Update has created this latest poll to find out how you listen to Odyssey. Do you still listen on the cassette player or have you collected the CDs? Have you purchased your favorite episodes as digital downloads or do you wait for them to air on the radio? Do you stream your episodes through Whitsend.org, the Odyssey Adventure Club, or another app? You can only vote for one option so make sure you choose whichever way you like listening to the show the most. Vote for how you listen to AIO here. Our 12th poll question has now concluded and AIO fans have submitted their answers. Out of the many episodes in which Odyssey characters have traveled abroad, the top episode was The Search for Whit from Album 27 with 28% of the vote. In a very close second was The Labyrinth from Album 55 which was just one vote behind. Album 27: The Search for Whit is of course named after the classic three-part episode where Jason and Eugene travel to the Middle East and eventually meet up with Mr. Whittaker after being absent for the show for two years. The episode introduces the audience to the second voice for Whit, Paul Herlinger, and is definitely a huge milestone for the show. In second place came another three-part episode featuring Jason, this one called The Labyrinth. His adventure in London pursuing Mr. Grote is the first episode on Album 55: The Deep End and leads to Jason making the significant decision to move back to the town of Odyssey. I think what we can learn from this poll is that AIO fans enjoy when their favorite characters return and probably have a special affinity for the character of Jason Whittaker in particular. Thank you to all who voted in our latest Adventures in Odyssey poll. We will be posting a new poll question shortly. You can make suggestions for future polls here. The show Adventures in Odyssey isn't just confined to the town of Odyssey. There have been numerous occasions where our favorite characters have had adventures around the world. That's why the AIO Update has created this latest poll to determine the fans' favorite international episode. Over the years AIO has gone to London, Mexico, Switzerland, Israel, Guatemala, Congo and Venezuela. You can vote for The Last Great Adventure of the Summer, The Cross of Cortes, A Name Not a Number, The Search for Whit, Shining Armor, Prisoners of Fear, The Top Floor, The Labyrinth, or The Pilot. This list does not include Imagination Station rides, flashbacks or stories. After you've voted, leave your suggestions in the comments about which country you think AIO should visit next. Vote here. Our 11th poll question has ended and AIO fans have chosen their answers. Out of the numerous character arcs that concluded around Album 49: The Sky's the Limit, almost 50% of voters agreed that Leonard and Everett Meltsner, who left for Africa in A New Era, should now return to the show. In second place was Connie's book and in third Grady McKay and his father. The search for Eugene's father officially began in Album 45 in Prisoners of Fear but it has its roots all the way back in Album 10 in Last in a Long Line. During the saga we discover many things about Eugene's family, as well as a rival archaeologist Dalton Kearn. Despite all the suspense, the conclusion of this saga seems to come very quickly after Leonard's appearance. Everett Meltsner only appears in two episodes. Hopefully when the time is right, the Meltsner family can be reunited again. We want to thank everyone for voting in our latest Adventures in Odyssey poll. We will be posting a new poll question shortly. You can make suggestions for future poll questions here. |
