Adventures in Odyssey has been around for nearly 30 years and one of its latest initiatives is the Odyssey Adventure Club, where you can stream any episode on-demand. Austin Peachey of the AIO Blog has put together a video tour of the OAC for fans of the popular audio drama. For those AIO listeners not already in the club, you'll get a chance to see the many exclusive episodes that are now available on the OAC, plus all the hours of extra content. The next release from Adventures in Odyssey, Album 60: Head Over Heels, is airing on the OAC right now, will be out as a digital download next month, and finally releases on CD in March. And now Focus on the Family is launching a new contest to give fans their own copy. In 300 words or less, you need to answer the question: "Why Do You 'Heart' Odyssey?" Entries must be submitted by mail and arrive before January 29th. Of the fourteen winners chosen, all will receive a copy of Album 60 and an AIO t-shirt, and the grand prize winner will also get a phone call from none other than the show's host Chris Anthony. Adventures in Odyssey writer Paul McCusker's new Father Gilbert book series is debuting on January 27th with the release of The Body Under the Bridge, an intense story featuring a centuries-old battle between two local families, a mummified corpse, and a secret occult society. And it all picks up where the original Radio Theatre dramas left off. If this sounds interesting to you, you can head over to Goodreads to enter the giveaway to receive the book for free. Fifteen copies are up for grabs for this contest. To enter, you'll need to sign up for a Goodreads account. The Adventures in Odyssey team has just unveiled the 25 Days of Christmas Drawing Contest. Do you love to draw? In this new contest fans get to use their talents to create a picture of their favorite AIO characters in a Christmas setting using crayons, markers and pencils. You have until December 18th to mail in your entry, but you'll probably want to get started a lot earlier because daily winners will be start being announced December 1st. Each winner selected will have their artwork featured, and receive a copy of the 17th Imagination Station book, Danger on a Silent Night, as well as the Countdown to Christmas CD collection and an advent activity calendar. The grand prize winner will also get a special phone call from longtime AIO album artist Gary Locke. For more information, check out the contest details. Former Odyssey Adventure Club producer and the author of several fiction books Brock Eastman has just announced on his website a new exciting opportunity for aspiring writers of all ages. Brock is currently collecting short stories for some new anthologies set for release next summer. The Creepy Campfire Collection will feature stories between 10 and 30 thousand words, and the Galactic Exploration Collection will have stories between 15 and 40 thousand words. This month Focus on the Family has launched a new annual contest called the John Avery Whittaker Award. They're asking Adventures in Odyssey fans the question: "Who is 'Whit' in your life?" With your entry you can talk about how this person has impacted you, what qualities they have that remind you of Mr. Whittaker, and why you think they deserve this award. The contest runs from September 1st until October 31st and is open only to residents of the United States. Nominees for the award have a chance to win a prize package of Christian resources valued at over $500, which includes a free one-year subscription to the Odyssey Adventure Club, where you can stream any AIO episode on-demand. The AIO Blog has launched a new contest for fans of radio drama. You can enter to win the grand prize of The Chronicles of Narnia Collector's Edition from Focus on the Family Radio Theatre, which contains 22 hours of entertainment on a total of 19 CDs. The second place prize is the ninth album in the audio drama series Jonathan Park, and the third place prize is the pilot episode of a new series called Witnesses, which features the voice talents of Adventures in Odyssey co-creator Phil Lollar. During the summer of 2012 Adventures in Odyssey kicked off its 25th anniversary celebration. As part of this celebration, the Odyssey team offered a special opportunity: the chance to have your script become an Odyssey episode. The College Writer's Scholarship Contest was launched at that time. Ever since the first-place winner was announced to be Angela Phillips with her script entitled "A Jay in the Life", we have been waiting for that episode to be released. Another winner was Katie Wynn with her script "Big Trouble Under the Big Top" which was included on Album 57: A Call to Something More. But what about Phillips' script? We now have confirmation from Focus on the Family that the "A Jay in the Life" script will not be produced into an AIO episode. They said that although they "enjoyed the originality employed in this creative effort, its plot took several characters in directions that conflicted with our already established storylines." We at the AIO Update speculate that this script would have drastically altered the character of Jay Smouse. Will the College Writer's Scholarship Contest return? The official Adventures in Odyssey website, Whitsend.org, is soon going to launch an Easter Egg Hunt contest. The two available prizes include 90 Devotions for Kids: Life Changing Values From the Book of Matthew, which can help you establish a regular alone time with God, and Bible KidVentures: New Testament Stories, a book which includes action-packed fictional tales showing you that you can be a part of God's larger story. All you have to do is search for the hidden Adventures in Odyssey Easter Egg at whitsend.org. You'll find the hidden Easter egg somewhere on the website beginning March 25, and you can enter the drawing daily from April 1 to April 20. Brock and Evan are back today in a new Social Shout Out video. This time they answer questions from the sound designers' Foley room. They talk about whether the acts of service for the ACTS contest need to be big or not to win and how often you can enter the Good Goers picture of the week contest. In a lightning round Brock answers questions about Bernard, Connie and Jason, when Album 57 is coming out and more. They also say they want Adventures in Odyssey fans to rename the Social Shout Out. Until August 1st you can submit ideas for a new name for Brock and Evan's segment on the blog, Facebook, or in a letter to Focus on the Family. Fans will then get to vote for the best name. New Life FM has released an interview with Adventures in Odyssey producer, writer and creative director Paul McCusker talking about the A Call To Serve contest. Paul talks about how ACTS is different from last summer's Get in the Show contest, the various prizes, how and when the winners will be selected, and when the Good Goers mission trip to Costa Rica will take place. Paul also mentions that Shona, who appears in the upcoming three-part episode Life Expectancy, plays a role in an exciting new story arc that begins in Album 57.
