In 2012 Adventures in Odyssey celebrated its 25th anniversary and held its first Get in the Show contest, in which kids were invited to send in their auditions to be an actor on the show. Shona Kennedy won the contest and appeared as Jules Kendall, Connie's half-sister, on Album 57, as well as subsequent episodes. Now Focus on the Family is launching the Get in the Show contest again this year for AIO's 30th anniversary. Kids ages 6 to 15 can audition for a chance to win a trip for four to the Bahamas during the Focus on the Family 40th Anniversary Cruise in November 2017. During the cruise, the grand prize winner will perform live with Adventures in Odyssey actors during the 30th Birthday Live Show. Audition submissions will be accepted starting June 1, 2017. This contest is only open to residents of the United States. Check out the full contest rules here. Adventures in Odyssey is also releasing a new CD sampler this year titled Get in the Show! and will include three full episodes and a bonus track featuring the Get in the Show theme song by musician Phil Joel. The episodes included on the CD will be about relationships, friendship and compassion.
Adventures in Odyssey has been around for nearly 30 years and one of its latest initiatives is the Odyssey Adventure Club, where you can stream any episode on-demand. Austin Peachey of the AIO Blog has put together a video tour of the OAC for fans of the popular audio drama. For those AIO listeners not already in the club, you'll get a chance to see the many exclusive episodes that are now available on the OAC, plus all the hours of extra content. The next release from Adventures in Odyssey, Album 60: Head Over Heels, is airing on the OAC right now, will be out as a digital download next month, and finally releases on CD in March. And now Focus on the Family is launching a new contest to give fans their own copy. In 300 words or less, you need to answer the question: "Why Do You 'Heart' Odyssey?" Entries must be submitted by mail and arrive before January 29th. Of the fourteen winners chosen, all will receive a copy of Album 60 and an AIO t-shirt, and the grand prize winner will also get a phone call from none other than the show's host Chris Anthony. Adventures in Odyssey writer Paul McCusker's new Father Gilbert book series is debuting on January 27th with the release of The Body Under the Bridge, an intense story featuring a centuries-old battle between two local families, a mummified corpse, and a secret occult society. The Adventures in Odyssey team has just unveiled the 25 Days of Christmas Drawing Contest. Do you love to draw? In this new contest fans get to use their talents to create a picture of their favorite AIO characters in a Christmas setting using crayons, markers and pencils. You have until December 18th to mail in your entry, but you'll probably want to get started a lot earlier because daily winners will be start being announced December 1st. Each winner selected will have their artwork featured, and receive a copy of the 17th Imagination Station book, Danger on a Silent Night, as well as the Countdown to Christmas CD collection and an advent activity calendar. Former Odyssey Adventure Club producer and the author of several fiction books Brock Eastman has just announced on his website a new exciting opportunity for aspiring writers of all ages. Brock is currently collecting short stories for some new anthologies set for release next summer. The Creepy Campfire Collection will feature stories between 10 and 30 thousand words, and the Galactic Exploration Collection will have stories between 15 and 40 thousand words. This month Focus on the Family has launched a new annual contest called the John Avery Whittaker Award. They're asking Adventures in Odyssey fans the question: "Who is 'Whit' in your life?" With your entry you can talk about how this person has impacted you, what qualities they have that remind you of Mr. Whittaker, and why you think they deserve this award. The contest runs from September 1st until October 31st and is open only to residents of the United States. Nominees for the award have a chance to win a prize package of Christian resources valued at over $500, which includes a free one-year subscription to the Odyssey Adventure Club, where you can stream any AIO episode on-demand. You can enter to win the grand prize of The Chronicles of Narnia Collector's Edition from Focus on the Family Radio Theatre, which contains 22 hours of entertainment on a total of 19 CDs. The second place prize is the ninth album in the audio drama series Jonathan Park, and the third place prize is the pilot episode of a new series called Witnesses, which features the voice talents of Adventures in Odyssey co-creator Phil Lollar.
