You could argue that because the popular radio drama Adventures in Odyssey exists in a world with crazy futuristic inventions like the Imagination Station, the Room of Consequence, the Transmuter, and the Inspiration Station, the entire show could be categorized as science fiction. But even if you don't go that far, it would be pretty difficult not to recognize that the show writers have a special appreciation for the science fiction genre. That's why we've created this latest poll question, which asks fans what their favorite science fiction episode of Odyssey is. The first option is Someone to Watch Over Me, selected for its unforgettable space battle between Jimmy Barclay and the relentless villain called Grim. The second option is Terror from the Skies, in which an imminent alien invasion throws both Lawrence and Jimmy into a panic. Then there's the classic show Hidden in My Heart, featuring a short spoof of Star Trek. Another option is Gloobers, in which Dwayne and Jared find themselves inside a video game battling against countless slimy foes. And finally, the most recent science fiction episode to date is Drake the Cosmic Copper, set 100,000 years in the future. Choose your favorite of these five episodes when you vote here.
The nineteenth poll question at the AIO Update has closed and the final results are in. Fans were asked what their favorite Bernard Walton flashback episode was and they chose Prequels of Love from Album 48: Moment of Truth. You can listen to The Conscientious Cross-Guard on Album 13 and The Girl in the Sink on Album 42. The episode Prequels of Love aired just before Valentine's Day in 2007 and is full of comedic moments. We get to hear Bernard meeting his wife Maude while she's dressed in a chicken costume, and then his subsequent choking incident. The episode not only adds to Bernard's backstory, it also delves into the love lives of John and Jenny Whittaker, and Doris and Bart Rathbone. Thanks for participating in this poll. And you can always leave your own suggestions for future poll questions. The Eugene Sings musical albums were originally released in 2005, around the same time that the Adventures in Odyssey episode Odyssey Sings aired. But these two special albums, which together contain a total of 36 songs (including two bonus songs), have been unavailable for a few years now. That could change, however, if fans of Eugene Meltsner and his ukulele tunes make their voices heard now. Audio Theatre Central has put together a poll where you can declare your support for Eugene Sings to be re-released. After you've voted, take the time to share the poll online to make as many AIO fans as possible aware of this opportunity. With enough support, these musical albums could very well be made available once again. So make sure to check out the poll question. One of the previous polls on the AIO Update asked fans what their favorite Mr. Whittaker flashback episode was and the two-part episode The Triangle won. Now it's time to return to that same poll idea, but with a different character. Actor Dave Madden passed away last January, almost a year ago now, after voicing the character of Bernard Walton the window washer on Adventures in Odyssey for almost 20 years. He was in many great shows, too many to list in a single poll. So in keeping with the tradition of the Mr. Whittaker poll, this new poll question asks fans what their favorite Bernard flashback episode is. There are three options to choose from. The Conscientious Cross-Guard features Bernard telling the story of him at school having to stand up to the bully Tanyer Hyde. The Girl in the Sink includes the story about a missing girl, a mysterious figure name Ezekiel, and a dramatic rescue over a sheer cliff. And finally, Prequels of Love tells the story of Bernard meeting his future wife Maude. Which retelling from Bernard's life do you enjoy hearing the most? You can vote here. Voting for the latest poll question at the AIO Update has finally closed and the results are in. Adventures in Odyssey fans had the opportunity to give their opinion on whether or not they think the Eugene Sings! musical albums should be re-released by Focus on the Family. Back in 2005 two CDs came out featuring musical tunes performed by Will Ryan in the role of Eugene Meltsner. Today these CDs are no longer in production and are not even available on the OAC. And now to examine the results. For this poll question the vast majority of fans voted yes, with 79.49% in favor of these two musical albums being re-released to the public in some form, whether that be on CD, via digital download, or on the Odyssey Adventure Club. Other voters either said no or didn't think of it as a high priority. Have you heard the songs on the Eugene Sings! albums? What are some of your favorite tracks? You can leave a comment down below. Thank you to everyone who participated in this poll. A new poll question will be posted on the AIO Update shortly. In the meantime, you can add your own poll suggestions. We at the AIO Update love to hear Adventures in Odyssey fans' feedback, whether that's in the comments section, via email, on social media, or through our poll questions. It's great to keep in contact with people who share a passion for Odyssey. We want that to continue, so this year we've decided to try something new and launch a short survey to gather your thoughts about this website. We want to make sure the AIO Update is tailored to the interests and needs of our dedicated readers. So we've posted just five questions to find out what you like best about the site and how it can be improved for the future. All responses submitted will be anonymous. Thank you so much for visiting the site and taking the time to add your voice to the discussion. You can take the 2015 Survey today. Have you ever heard Eugene sing the song O-D-Y-Double-S-E-Y? How about I Just Met a Girl Named Katrina? Or maybe The Rose of Antelope Valley? These and fourteen other catchy ukulele tunes sung by Adventures in Odyssey's very own Eugene Meltsner were released in 2005 on a special musical album called Eugene Sings! around the same time the episode Odyssey Sings! from Album 45 aired on the radio. In addition to those seventeen songs, another seventeen holiday songs performed by Eugene were released in a sequel album called Eugene Sings! Christmas. It featured songs such as Seasonal Felicitations, Out with the Old Year, and Adeste Fidelis. But if you didn't snap up the CDs at that time, unfortunately you're now out of luck. You won't find either set of Eugene's songs in stores anymore because Focus on the Family has ceased producing these two musical albums. That's why we at the AIO Update have created this latest poll question. Should Eugene Sings! finally be re-released for purchase? Let us know and vote here. We at the AIO Update have officially closed our 17th poll question and tallied the final results. We asked Adventures in Odyssey fans who their favorite Parker family member was and the vast majority was almost evenly split between two choices: Matthew and Olivia. Ultimately, Olivia won by one vote, with 40% of the total. Olivia Parker was originally voiced by Hope Levy but is currently voiced by Kelly Stables. Similarly, Matthew was first voiced by Zach Callison, but is now voiced by Gunnar Sizemore. Interestingly, Matthew Parker, the member of the family who has appeared in the most episodes to date, did not win this poll as some might have expected. Instead, Olivia came out as the fan favorite. Perhaps Olivia should appear in more episodes in order to better match her popularity among the fans? You can leave your thoughts on this in the comments. Meanwhile Camilla, who has appeared in the least shows among the Parker children, was left far behind with just two votes. Grandma Lucia managed to surpass her with three votes. And finally, the Parker parents tied for last place. Thank you to everyone who voted in this latest Adventures in Odyssey poll question. We will have a new poll posted online soon. In 2010 the Parker family was introduced to Adventures in Odyssey in the episode The Inspiration Station, Part 1, which is included on Album 51: Take It from the Top. Various family members have since appeared in every single album after that time, including in the first season of the Odyssey Adventure Club, and all three kids have undergone a change in their voice actors at one time or another. Since they've become such an important part of the show, we at the AIO Update have decided to create a new poll question asking AIO fans who their favorite Parker family member is. You can choose either the older daughter Olivia, the son Matthew, the youngest daughter Camilla, the father David, the mother Eva or even the grandmother Lucia, also known Abuelita. We've chosen to exclude lesser known characters from this poll such as Rosalita and Orlando because they have appeared just once and only in the background. Who is your favorite character in the Parker household? Cast your vote here. Our 16th poll question has now ended and the final results are in. We at the AIO Update asked Adventures in Odyssey fans what their favorite Thanksgiving-themed episode was and they arrived at a perfect three-way tie. The episodes Thank You, God (Album 3), Thanksgiving at Home (Album 7) and A Thankstaking Story (Album 52) each received seven votes. Thank You, God from Album 3: Heroes was the very first Thanksgiving episode on the show and featured Mr. Whittaker telling the story of his stepmother and how he became a Christian. Thanksgiving at Home from Album 7: On Thin Ice was the second Thanksgiving episode and the only one to include the Barclay family. It featured Donna and Jimmy telling the story of the pilgrim's first Thanksgiving in America. And finally, A Thankstaking Story from Album 52: Cause & Effect was the newest Thanksgiving episode as of the start of this poll question in September 2014. A big thanks to all who participated in this latest Adventures in Odyssey poll question. We will have a new poll posted online soon. |
