The very next Adventures in Odyssey album is only months away from being released. But while we wait, you'll be happy to learn of another family friendly audio drama called The Brinkman Adventures. This series follows the Brinkman family through wild and crazy escapades as they discover powerful and true stories from the lives of real Christian missionaries. Its first season has twelve episodes that you can purchase by a donation of whatever amount you want. You can listen to an interview with the creator on the Audio Theatre Central podcast. And just like Lamplighter Theatre, this series has a connection to AIO. A member of the Odyssey team, sound designer Rob Jorgensen, has gotten involved in The Brinkman Adventures and is helping to produce their high quality productions. You can find more details about this audio drama on their website. For those of you who didn't get the chance to listen to today's Adventures in Odyssey live webcast about the A Call To Serve challenge, the AIO Update has put together some quick highlights for you to listen to. The original live broadcast experienced a lot of technical difficulties so we have edited together this clip, which is just under 9 minutes long, featuring Shona Kennedy, Katie Leigh and Chris Anthony being interviewed. They talk about their own experiences serving and how the show Adventures in Odyssey has impacted how they serve. You can find out more details about the ACTS contest at whitsend.org/acts. Listen to the audio clip below. Update: Whitsend.org has now released some video highlights of the webcast. You can watch it in the latest podcast here.
As many Adventures in Odyssey fans try to wait patiently for the next AIO collection Album 57: A Call to Something More, Radio Theatre fans anticipate their current audio production "C.S. Lewis At War," Paul McCusker fans watch for the upcoming 2013 film Beyond the Mask, Lamplighter Theatre fans wait for Titus: Comrade of the Cross and Phil Lollar fans look forward to the new audio drama Iliad House, one has to be thankful for the high-quality Christian media that is available to us right now and is continually being produced. We appreciate it especially as we are very aware of the fact that media made by Christians is not always of the best quality. In case you missed it, we'd like to draw your attention to some of Paul McCusker's thoughts that he posted online last year. In a blog post entitled "How to Make Christian Media Awesome" Paul discusses defining success, how people should approach the disciplines of Art and how to write for your audience. Read it here. You can also read an interview with Paul McCusker on The Storyfruit Blog. This is just a really quick reminder to remember to tune into Adventures in Odyssey's live webcast today, May 22nd, on whitsend.org. This live webcast will feature some appearances from Brock Eastman and hosts Jesse Florea and Bob Smithouser. It will also include interviews with Get in the Show winner Shona Kennedy, Katie Leigh, the voice of Connie, and Chris Anthony, the voice of Chris. You can watch the webcast starting at 5:30 ET, 4:30 CT, 3:30 MT & 2:30 PT to kick off this Summer of Service. Watch the live stream. Today Brock Eastman and Evan Reedall have released another Social Shout Out video. This time they answer your questions about the upcoming ACTS contest. They talk about entering the contest through your local Christian bookstore, how to record your hours of service, and what the age limit to enter is. They also discuss tomorrow's live webcast and what it's like to be an AIO ambassador. They are not yet discussing the new Odyssey Adventure Club, but the logo is featured prominently in the video. Watch it below. The Adventures in Odyssey Blog released their finale podcast in March, an episode over three hours long packed with awesome content. Now that the Blogcast has ended, hosts Austin and Tasha have moved on to video blogging. In this first interview they talk to David Griffin, the voice of Jimmy Barclay on Adventures in Odyssey. Dave answers questions about how he first started acting, what it was like acting with the three different actresses who voiced Mary Barclay, what he has learned about audio drama from working in the studio, why Jimmy has become so popular with the fans, which other character on AIO he would like to voice, how his children can sometimes act like Jimmy, and what he hopes will happen to the character of Jimmy in the future. He also gives some updates on his audio projects: "Bunker 21" and Edwin & the Orbs." Watch it below. AIO Update was officially founded and joined the web on May 20, 2011, just two years back. And things have certainly progressed since that time, even if it isn't that long ago. We invite all of you to celebrate the two year mark along with us, as this simply would not have been possible without your involvement and time spent on the site, which encouraged us to remain active by not only continuing to post breaking news stories but editorials as well. Odyssey fans are the best. Thank you all for your feedback and support! Your comments have always been insightful and helpful. We'd also like to thank the AIO team for continuing to serve God by producing the high quality and wonderfully entertaining radio drama that so many people appreciate. None of us would be the same without Adventures in Odyssey. Here is some information about us. AIO Update exists to provide you and other fans with the latest Adventures in Odyssey news. It was created and is currently run by David Hilder. For instant updates, you can follow us on Twitter. But not only do we offer news but we also offer opinions, which can be found in our Editorials section. In addition to that, feel free to browse countless Odyssey products, which you can rate out of 10, and if you get the chance please check out our Poll, which is updated regularly. If you haven't had a chance yet to enter The Odyssey Scoop's latest contest, you may find there is a little more time left than you thought. The May 16th deadline for the ScoopYourself contest has been changed to Friday, May 31st in an effort to increase participation. The purpose of this new contest is for fans to show off their Adventures in Odyssey collections in a new and original way. Even if you don't have very many AIO products, remember that you will be judged on creativity. The various prizes include Album 56: The Grand Design, Passages: Darien's Rise, Silver Celebration, the 2012 Official Guide and iTunes gift cards. Find out more details here. Little by little we have learned about the history of Adventures in Odyssey's central character, John Avery Whittaker. Those flashback episodes range from Whit's service in the US Navy during World War II, to when he met his wife Jenny, to his various career path changes, to when he and Jack met Blackbeard, to raising his children, to when he decided to start Whit's End. And these insights into Mr. Whittaker's life haven't stopped as the show has continued and as Whit's character has changed actors. Album 56: The Grand Design contained another flashback episode, proving once again that there are still many more interesting things we can hear from Whit's life experiences. For our latest poll we have selected eight options to choose from. They are Recollections, Thank You God, Rescue from Manatugo Point & Operation Digout, Blackbeard's Treasure, The Triangle (Parts 1 & 2), Silent Night, Prequels of Love, and Great Expectations. You can vote for the best Mr. Whittaker flashback episode here. |
